Three Oddball Gifts To Give Your Loved Ones In 2012

Socializing with close friends and family is vital today as it harbors close relationships and keeps that bond tight between you. It makes sense then to have the following three items in your home or backyard entertaining area as standard as they all go towards making that quiet time together all the more enjoyable.

Fire Pits

For my outdoor area I chose a best firepit over a gas heater for one reason only. Character. I think the sound of wood crackling in a small fire when you are with 3-4 friends outside on a chilly evening sets the tone for an enjoyable night. These easy to clean units are unobtrusive on your patio or porch yet set an ambience that will stay with you for a long time.

Dry Ice Machine

A dry ice machine, while not standard in many homes, can have it’s advatages when entertaining at home. An aquaintance of mine bought one earlier this year as he goes camping a lot and used it to make dry ice to keep his food from going off while out camping. He also uses it at home when the need arises such as when a storm cut his power off and he was able to store all his refrigerated foodstuffs until the power was re-connected. Having an item such as this at home could be a great idea.

Lazy Susan

Having a lazy susan in your home is the nearest thing to all of us having a servant or a maid. Did you know that it was the introduction of the lazy susan to homes which started the decline of such people as servants etc? These simple, easy to make aids, (all you need is a round wooden serving tray and a lazy susan bearing screwed underneath the tray), are now standard in many American homes and indeed worldwide as they have proved to be most practical for many applications. These are not only used on table tops but many kitchen cabinets and indeed pantry’s have got a lazy susan installed to utilize space.
