The Prerequisites for a Bundle of Joy’s Nursery
Making sure you are prepared to bring your little bundle of joy home from the hospital is important. To make life easier for moms, and for the safety of a baby, one should prepare the nursery well in advance. To correctly prepare, there are items that you must have in the nursery; these items include safe furniture and baby bedding.
One important consideration for the new parent is if the furniture in the nursery suits their needs. Essentially, you should have an excellent crib, and ensure that you buy a brand new mattress for it. If you get a used crib, it is best to buy a new mattress even if you have the one that came with the crib. Note if the older cribs are safe and be aware of new cribs before paying.
You can get by without one, but most parents who are setting up a nursery do purchase a changing table. Many parents purchase a changing table for their baby’s nursery. A changing table is a convenient piece of furniture, not only for changing the baby but also for storing baby’s things. Of the many tasks you have to do to prepare for a new baby, one is to buy a dresser. Make sure it is large enough to fit the baby’s clothing and other accessories and items you want to store away. If there’s enough room, add a comfortable chair for the inevitable late-night feedings.
High-quality baby bedding is widely available at many stores, so buy it if at all possible. Crib bedding deals are better online as they have a wider selection. The most important thing when purchasing baby bedding is your baby’s safety, so make sure that all blankets and sheets fit snugly on the mattress, don’t use heavy quilts, and avoid using pillows in the crib. Almost all bedding sets are pre-fitted with a pair of sheets: one fitted and one loose. Select bedding in natural fibers like cotton, which are non-irritative and allow the baby’s skin to breathe.
To fully complete the baby’s nursery, it is important to have an appropriate pink and brown baby decor. Unless you have decor in the nursery, it will look too bare; get picture frames and window valances to make it look better. Make sure to purchase a monitor for your child’s room so that you will be able to tell when your child needs you. It’s also a good idea to get a mobile to hang over the baby’s crib, so that the child will be entertained; many of the available mobiles will play soft music to help the baby sleep. Having extra blankets and sheets on hand is also a good idea, because they’ll get dirty quite frequently.
